Google is gradually rolling out Business Profile management in Gemini. Here is what eligible independent hairdressers can do and what to verify before publishing changes.
Abby's take
What this means for the industry — and for independents
Industry impact. Google is moving local-business management into a conversational interface. That can shorten the path from an insight or customer question to a profile update, but it also increases the chance that an unreviewed prompt changes information clients rely on for appointments.
For freelancers. For an independent hairdresser, opening hours, appointment links, contact details and review replies directly shape trust and bookings. Gemini can reduce administrative work for eligible profiles, yet the hairdresser remains responsible for accuracy, tone, privacy and whether a suggested change matches the real business.
My take. My view is to use Gemini as a preparation and checking layer, not as an unsupervised manager. Ask it to surface missing information, summarise feedback or draft a reply, then verify the profile, booking link and wording yourself before anything goes live. Speed is useful only when the client information remains true.
What I'd do next
- Check whether the connected Google account owns or manages exactly one verified Business Profile and meets Google's current eligibility rules.
- Before changing anything, export or record current hours, contact details, appointment links, categories and business description.
- Start with read-only prompts about profile information, recent reviews and performance rather than immediately requesting public edits.
- Review every drafted reply and post for privacy, accuracy, tone and unsupported claims before publishing or deleting anything.
- After any update, open the live profile and booking path from a signed-out mobile browser to confirm the client-facing result.
Watch-out. Google says the feature is being released gradually and may not be available. Eligibility, languages, accounts and capabilities can change. Check official Google help and verify live profile information after every action.
What Google has made available
Google's current help page says Business Profile can connect with Gemini Apps so eligible users can manage profile information conversationally and access business insights. Google also describes business notebooks that surface proactive suggestions and prompts.
The supported tasks include reviewing or changing opening hours, contact information, website or social links, appointment action links and some business attributes. Gemini can work with profile photos, draft review replies, create or schedule posts, summarise feedback themes and show performance metrics or search keywords.
This is not a separate listing. It is another interface connected to the existing Business Profile. A requested change can therefore affect what a client sees on Google Search or Maps.

The eligibility limits matter
As of 20 September 2026, Google says the rollout is gradual. The owner or manager must have access to only one verified Business Profile, be at least 18 and use a personal Google Account associated with that profile. Google says work or school accounts are not currently supported.
The Gemini web app also needs the relevant activity setting enabled, and the feature may not appear even when the basic conditions are met. Owners or managers with access to multiple verified profiles are currently excluded.
Do not restructure profile ownership merely to force access to a new feature. Profile permissions are a security control. If Gemini is unavailable, continue managing the listing through the normal Business Profile interface.
Begin with questions before allowing changes
A safe first session is read-only. Ask Gemini to show current hours, contact information, appointment links and recent reviews. Compare the response with the live profile and the business's own records.
Next, ask for a gap list: missing hours, an old website link, an inconsistent description or recurring review themes. Treat the result as a checklist to verify, not a factual audit completed by the system.
Only move to edits after confirming which field will change and what the final value should be. Change one item, then inspect the live result. This makes it easier to identify and reverse a mistake.
- Show current contact information
- List all public action links
- Summarise recent review themes
- Show current performance metrics
- Identify missing profile fields without editing them
Protect the booking path and public facts
Hours, address and appointment links are higher-risk fields because a mistake can send a client to the wrong place or make a bookable time look unavailable. Confirm special hours, chair days and workspace details against the actual operating schedule before approving a change.
Test links from a signed-out phone after publishing. The destination should show the correct service menu, location and availability. If the business works from a shared space, the listing still needs to satisfy Google's current eligibility and address rules.
Keep a short change log with date, field, previous value and new value. Conversational editing should not remove the basic discipline of knowing what changed.
Use AI drafts without losing your voice or privacy
Gemini can draft review replies and profile posts, but a public reply represents the business. Remove generic filler, confirm service details and avoid discussing private client information or arguing about facts that belong in a private resolution.
A feedback summary can reveal themes worth investigating, such as confusion about arrival instructions or appreciation for consultation quality. It does not prove that every reviewer had the same experience, and it should not be turned into an unsupported marketing claim.
Do not paste confidential client notes, appointment histories or personal information into prompts. Use the profile's own public review context and the minimum information needed to prepare a professional response.
Measure whether the workflow saves useful time
For four weeks, record how long the process takes, which suggestions were usable, how many required correction and whether profile accuracy improved. A new tool is not valuable merely because it produces more posts or faster replies.
Use search keywords and performance information as directional evidence. Check whether the profile clearly answers the services and location questions people are already using, but do not rewrite the business name or description into a keyword list.
If the workflow creates uncertainty, disconnect the app and return to the standard interface. The goal is a more accurate client journey, not maximum automation.

Make sure the booking destination is ready before adding more automation
A faster profile workflow only helps when the location, services and booking path are accurate. Test the full journey from Google result to confirmed appointment.

Common questions
Can every hairdresser manage Google Business Profile through Gemini?
No. Google says the rollout is gradual. Current requirements include being an owner or manager of only one verified profile, being 18 or over and using an associated personal Google Account. Availability can still vary.
Can Gemini change my salon hours and booking link?
For eligible connected profiles, Google lists opening hours, contact details and action links among supported fields. Review the exact value first and test the live profile and booking destination after any change.
Should I let Gemini reply to Google reviews automatically?
Use it to draft, not to remove human review. Check tone, facts, privacy and whether the response reveals client details or makes claims the business cannot support before publishing.
What if I manage more than one verified Business Profile?
Google currently says owners or managers with access to more than one verified profile are not eligible for this connection. Continue using the standard Business Profile tools and recheck official guidance as rollout rules change.
